My Retrofête Collection

I’m in love with Retrofête dresses, seriously. In love, obsessed, can’t get enough of them. If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, they are the creators of those sequin dresses, the ones that started the huge trend of dupes – and just general amazing sparkles across shops everywhere. Probably most famous is the Gabrielle dress (that will be the green one in the picture above), the sequin wrap dress that comes in a chocolate box selection of incredible colours. They’re just wonderful, so glam, so sparkly, so girly, so beautiful – but my goodness are they pricey.

And as much as I can’t get enough of these stunning dresses – would I pay full price for one? Well, if I were rich, yes, I’d buy many, oh so many – but reality check, I’m not; so no, there’s no way I could justify spending £700 on a dress that isn’t one I’m wearing down the aisle. However, here’s the secret… I own three, and I’ve never paid full price, ever. All those gorgeous additions above were purchased at 70 – 70% off, still pricey – but they are a wardrobe staple, and will last the test of time.

The tip is to keep your eye out, and be ready when you find one at a decent discount. I’ve purchased two of mine from Flannels – the green one I got last week, when they were also offering a one day 20% off special on top of the sale discount that was already on the dress, this brought it in at £150!!! And the other I think I got for just under £200, about a year and a half ago. At this point in the sale, they do tend to only have one size left – so it is a case of keep looking, and trying. But honestly, the Flannels online sales are fantastic, and always have been. Then my gorgeous brown one in the middle – I snapped up from The Outnet, again at a huge 70% discount, with a discount code added on top for another 15% off. Oh, and I also used a cashback site, and got about another £10 back that way to put towards it. You just have to be savvy, and like I say keep looking, and also utilise discount codes on top. Even places like Net a Porter have 20% off days and weeks – and also have great post Christmas sales too. MyTheresa is also a good one to use discount codes. Just shop around, keep your eye out, and remember discount code!

If I had unlimited money, as I said above, I would pay full price for these dresses – as they are stunning, and I just haven’t found any dupe that matches the quality. They are super heavy on the hanger, yet somehow feel effortless to wear and don’t itch, rub or pull – like I have found other sequin dresses to do. I love them, and I hope to be able to add more (sale and discount codes pending), that being said… can you have too many sequin dresses in your wardrobe?
