Jo Malone Honeysuckle & Davana

Jo Malone Honeysuckle & Davana

There’s another new Jo Malone fragrance on the horizon… this time a perfectly English floral offering in the form of Honeysuckle & Davana. I had been hoping for a while, that there may be another addition coming up around Autumn time, especially after last years incredible treat of the English Oak collection; and yet again the brand hasn’t disappointed.

Die hard Jo Malone fans will know that the fragrance line has flirted with honeysuckle offerings previously, opting to combine it with jasmine, if my memory serves me correctly… and this time the note is back, but with a fresh hint of green in the form of davana. For anyone unfamiliar (I was too), Davana is a herbaceous plant that is predominantly found in India, and produces a sweet, fruity, yet slightly green scent. This paired with the sweet and delicate aroma of honeysuckle produces a bright floral, that gives a gentle nod to the English countryside.

For me, this is the perfect Summer to Autumn transitional scent. Whilst the florals and sunny notes are there – especially on opening – I find the dry down to be reminiscent of endless barley fields, and the farmers harvesting their crop in preperation for the weather change. As Autumn is my favourite time of the year, this gets me seriously, seriously excited. As far as projection and longevity go, for a floral, I’m quite impressed. You don’t need too many sprays to give a noticeable aroma (I like my fragrances to be more on the statement side), yet it’s not too in your face either; and you can still detect the scent on your skin hours later. Often with florals, you can end up having to re apply as the day wears on, due to their delicate nature – but I’m pretty chuffed with this one.

It is worth noting that this fragrance was gifted to me by Jo Malone, not as a PR gift, but as a thank you for choosing to shop with them so often (I do endlessly rant on here about how they are my favourite brand). So would I re purchase this with my own money? Yes actually, I would. Particularly at this time of the year, due to how wonderful it suits the changing of the season. Perhaps not the 100ml, because I have a 100ml bottle of Jasmine & Sambac – and if I could liken it to anything, it would definitely be that – but I’d 100% pick this up again to keep in my fragrance collection, and I’m super grateful to Jo Malone for sharing this piece of luxury with me.

You can pick up Honeysuckle & Davana in store and online from September.
