I remember years ago, when Space NK was a lot smaller than it was now, and there weren’t too many about… there was a really small one in Leeds, and it used to go by the full name Space NK Apothecary. I was obsessed with it. I’d never seen anything like it, and I’d save up all my money from my weekend job, just to buy one candle – and that was it, my entire wage gone for the month, but it was so worth it. It was literally like a real life enchanted apothecary, with all these cool and unknown brands that weren’t available or heard of anywhere else. Even though it’s not as unique as it used to be, I don’t think it will ever lose that allure for me, and I will certainly always love going in for a browse.
This month I picked up quite a large bag of goodies, and so I thought I’d share my thoughts on them…
Joonbyrd Sunday Sofa Body Butter – This smells divine. My goodness, it’s really something special. This stuff is pricey, and I don’t think you really need to spend that much on a body butter. But, for special occasions, this is a real treat. The tub is really big too. It smells like a summer evening to me, and I’ve not smelt anything else like it on the market right now. Oh and it also does an amazing job of hydrating my skin, and making it look really nice and healthy too. Gorgeous.
Space NK Mykonos Candle – Space NK candles are really underrated. They have four scents in their own brand candles, and honestly – they’re on par with the bigger scented candle brands. This one is my favourite summer scent, and really gets me excited for those warmer months. But I have each scent, and I can’t really fault any of them, especially for the price.
Phlur Moonstone Body Mist – I do think some of the Phlur scents are a bit overrated – but Moonstone I really, really like. It has its own unique smell, it lasts on the skin, and, let’s be honest, that packaging is to die for.
Laneige Cream Skin Toner – This stuff is really lovely. Is it a must have? No I don’t think so, at least not for my skin. But would I purchase it again? Yes I would, and yes I will be doing. I use it under my makeup and it just perfects my base, without resulting in my makeup sliding all over the place throughout the day. It’s a hydrating toner, so isn’t specifically made for under makeup, but I love using it that way. It does a really good job of softening my skin, and quenching any dry patches.
Rare Beauty Liquid Contour – There’s been a lot of hype around this product recently. Is it the be all and end all of contours? No, I don’t think so, and if you have a contour that works for you, you don’t need to replace it with this one. That being said if you are wanting to try a contour, and don’t have one at the moment, or don’t have something that works for you – this is decent. You also get a lot of product for your money.
Summer Fridays Lip Oil – Mmmm.. this is okay. I probably won’t buy it again. I enjoy using it, the packaging is stunning, and it hydrates my lips. But there’s really nothing special or different about it, and for the price – I think you can do better.
Glossier Black Cherry Cloud Paint – Where has this surge in black cherry products come from all of a sudden? I really wanted a dark red blush, and there aren’t too many options on the market in the exact shade I was looking for. Enter Glossier… a great little cream blush. Groundbreaking and life changing? No. But a good price point, and available in the exact shade type I wanted, so, added to basket.
Milk Lip & Cheek Stick – Never tried anything from Milk Beauty before, the brand has just never interested me, but, I have to say this little blush and lip stick really impressed me! Really good pigment, very blendable, wearable, and extremely easy to apply. It’s certainly made me sit up and notice the brand a bit more.
