Gisou – Is it Worth the Hype?

I’m a tad obsessed at the moment with Gisou… you may be able to tell from the picture above. Over the last few months, I’ve been building up a little collection (mainly helped by my Sephora points!) and testing everything out, to provide a really honest review. The brand has really blown up at the moment, and it’s easy to get sucked into the hype – but put all the glossiness aside, is it actually worth the money? Here’s my thoughts…

Honey Infused Hair Oil – Probably the most famous product from the line, I’m going to go straight in and say yes, I think this is really decent stuff. Are there products on the market for a lower price point, that provide results that are just as good, honestly – yes there are – but, the thing that makes this one stand out for me is overwhelmingly the scent, and also the packaging (superficial, I know). It also has a really lovely texture to work with (quite thick, so I don’t feel like I’m losing and wasting product), and you don’t need to use masses to get good results. I use mine after washing, on wet hair before I blow-dry it, and also the tiniest amount to smooth my hair, if I’m going out. What I do really like about this brand also is the fact that they’ve put together lots of care and attention with regards to advising how to use the product to best work for you (you get a really helpful booklet with the larger size hair oil), the fact that they’re a home grown business and really champion the natural benefits of honey, but also that they’re honest – the guidance and story behind the brand makes abundantly clear that great hair is hugely helped by genetics, something I’ve not seen other beauty brands allude to, and therefore admit that their products aren’t offering a miracle cure, but they can help you with your healthy hair journey. I really liked the honesty there.

Honey Infused Hair Perfume – This stuff is incredible. Seriously. I’m not sure what I’ll do if they ever stop making it. The scent is just stunning. Don’t expect an EDP type scent that’s going to last hours on your body, that’s not what it’s meant to be, and doesn’t claim to be either – but if you want a beautiful scent to just give your beauty routine that something extra, freshen your hair up, and leave it smelling gorgeous all day – this is the one. Best hair perfume I’ve ever used – mainly down to the scent, but that’s actually the point… I love it, already have, and will repurchase again. Makes you smell like you’re fresh out of a high end hair salon.

Honey Infused Lip Oil – Hmm, I’m not as keen on this. It’s unscented and unflavoured – which I understand the reasoning behind – but was also left a bit disappointed in. It adds the most magnificent shine to the lips, I’ll give it that… but it just doesn’t last, I’d say it didn’t last longer than an hour on my lips, and it also didn’t add any benefits in terms of lip hydration or extra care. If I’m being honest, I don’t really understand the point of this one. Sorry, Gisou – I do still love you!

Honey Infused Beauty Balm – This kind of reminds me of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, but… just not as good. Maybe that’s unfair, as they don’t actually market the product to share the same attributes, it’s an all round balm to oil formula that’s meant to provide intense hydration, and actually, it does do just that – but that’s about it. Again, as with the lip oil, I don’t find it provides me with any lasting benefits, and it hasn’t really done anything in relation to transforming or improving my skin either. But that being said, I’m glad to have it around for the soothing and hydrating benefits, especially in the winter. However, would I repurchase? I don’t think so, sadly.

Honey Infused Hair Mask – Clearly, haircare is what Gisou is best at. Another really good product that I will be repurchasing – in fact, it’s probably now a main staple in my beauty routine. I’ve been applying this once a week, and is it life changing? No. But I have to admit, I am seeing benefits, mainly smoother and more manageable hair – my hair wasn’t in bad condition before, so I can’t really comment on the benefits with regards to improving hair health; but I do think it’s worth the money for this one. Makes my hair super silky smooth, and smelling gorgeously fresh. Another winner.
