The Chloe Small Marcie

Chloe Mini Marcie Bag Handbag Nude

So I actually bought this one in January 2021, but I wanted to road test it a little bit and make sure it was a classic within my wardrobe, before reviewing. I had been contemplating this bag for a good while, but just couldn’t decide if it was to my style or not… I’d been pouring over Pinterest pictures of it for ages, trying to get an idea of how other people styled it, then on New Years day we were watching James Bond Spectre and I couldn’t believe that the female lead in the film was wearing it! It’s literally worn right through the film too, and as silly as it sounds, it’s actually a great way to get a feel for the bag and see it in action per se. Anyhow, I kind of took that as an excuse a sign that this was the bag to purchase… and here we are.

After that it was over to the colour choices. I initially ordered the grey one – Dove Grey I believe is the official name – however, when it arrived, the colour was a lot darker than it looked on the website (I shopped MyTheresea); it was made to look a super light spring colour, but it was almost identical to a grey Sac de Jour I had at the time, and as much as I loved and adored my SDJ, I thought it was silly to have two quite expensive bags in the exact same colour – plus I did want something light for Spring. So off that one went back, and I then opted for the Powder Pink colour – again though, when that arrived it was much darker than the website portrayed – I’m not sure why this is, but it wasn’t just the MyTheresa website, it was all internet images of the bag… I’d probably recommend going to see them in real life if you want to get a true reflection of colour on some of them. SO, off it went back, again, and I then… after much more research… chose the nude colour. This one took a bit more searching for (potentially due to the time of year), but I eventually found it on FarFetch, and put my order in.

Ah it really was meant to be. The bag was delivered, and to be honest I’d kind of lost any excitement over opening it, due to the last two disappointments; but as I pulled it out of the box, I literally gasped at how beautiful it was (honestly). It was finally true to colour, but I also felt it was even more beautiful than it looked on any website or film – I was delighted. The colour is just stunning and really well done for a nude, it will pretty much go with anything and is such a Spring/Summer staple. I did think the bag was more casual, and that it is, but it will also be completely suitable for more special events too – the first thing that sprung to mind actually when I opened it, is how gorgeous it would look worn to a wedding I am attending this summer.

The leather finish is only available in a texturised leather, but that’s always the best option to go for with regards to wear – I only ever purchase my handbags in texturised leather anyway, not just because of the wear, but because I think that kind of finish looks more luxurious too. What I will say about this leather, is that it’s super soft, so if you’re wearing the bag constantly, it may have the potential to lose its shape quite quickly. I actually purchased a handbag liner for mine, and popped that in from day one, just so it wouldn’t lose shape – I do prefer a structured bag though, so if you are like me, that may be something to think about.

Size wise, it fits more in than it would appear. I can easily fit in my iPhone plus, purse, any bits of makeup I need (albeit I do take them out of the makeup bag for this handbag), keys and perfume (a 30ml bottle of Jo Malone, just for size reference). Access to the bag is super easy whenever I want to pull my phone out, but is also secure enough so that you’d know if someone was trying to access it, it also has to be opened from the side closest to your body – so wouldn’t be as simple for anyone else (most people will wear this cross-body I think, so I hope this is good information to know).

My only niggle with the bag I suppose, is the strap. The strap is adjustable – which is great, and also a must – however it doesn’t have a loop to keep the two straps together, once it goes past the buckle. Now I wear mine quite long, but I suppose this would get more problematic the shorter you need to wear it. You could secure it with a clear elastic hair tie if it bothered you too much… but would you really want to do that with your new beautiful handbag? I’m not sure.

That being said, it really is my only qualm, and this handbag is going to be one I treasure in my collection. I just find it so effortless, easy to style and so on trend with the summer styles right now. It’s also extremely well priced for such a high end brand, and if you are looking for a designer bag from a high end brand that isn’t ridiculously priced, this really is one to consider.
