Autumn Harvests

Glut season is upon us, and I’ve finally been able to start harvesting and enjoying all the gorgeous foods I started growing earlier in the year. It’s been so lovely to watch everything grow, and there is literally no greater feeling than eating something you’ve actually grown yourself. I still can’t believe those pumpkins grew from some seed!

It’s also really lovely to be able to share food and garden gifts with friends and family too. I’m going to make a crab apple and chilli chutney in a couple of weeks, then jar them up to give out as Christmas gifts. I also have some lovely pumpkin recipes I’m keen to try – and if they go well, I can hopefully share them on here.

By far my favourite thing to grow though, and one I think I’m now going to grow every year, was potatoes. The taste of a home grown potato is honestly incredible in comparison to supermarket bought – I wish I had grown more, but this year was more of an experiment – now I know I can do it, I’m going to grow so many more next year. They’re actually one of the easiest things to grow too. Oh and they also offered up so much fun when it came to harvesting – my nephew helped me and he absolutely loved it, especially trying to see who could find the biggest one.
