Reviving My Wardrobe For Spring

Happy (erm, ish) Spring! I was in two minds with going ahead of the scheduling of this post as planned, because I know everything’s a bit funny right now and the last thing anyone has on their mind is shopping. But I also thought people may just want a little bit of normality too, so if that’s you, I hope you enjoy…

Ever since the new year, I’ve been slowly building up my wardrobe and adding lots of new key pieces. My main focuses were adding colour, and adding some more sustainable fabrics to my collection – avoiding the “fast fashion” wherever I can, and instead trying to focus on essentials that will last.

One of my favourite finds was a gorgeous oversized cropped Maison Margiela tee – perfect for spring and summer, and I even managed to bag 20% off with a Net a Porter promotion code. After cooing over them for so long, I also took the plunge and purchased one of the Ralph Lauren Polo Bear sweatshirts – these are such a classic piece that won’t go out of style, and look incredible with some simple jeans.

Where I can, I also like to try and add Zimmermann pieces to my wardrobe, and my latest addition was this gorgeous floral playsuit above. I think their pieces are so classic, and they are always so on trend – the materials they use are divine too, and will really last. That being said, their pieces are still ridiculously expensive, and so I rarely pay full price for these items, and instead purchase from The Outnet – they always have such a huge range on there.

I’ve also for the past year or two only been purchasing jewellery in finer materials, that will last – well forever, when looked after. Costume jewellery is lovely, but it tarnishes and ruins so easily and I only want to really invest my money now into items that are going to keep. I also think that makes them really special too, and means they can eventually be passed down. I’d been saving up for a while to add this teeny tiny horseshoe to my collection, which should perfectly compliment my initial necklace I got a few christmases ago.

With regards to colour, I’ve really been trying to build this up slowly, adding jewel satin shades to my rails. I used to be afraid of bright colours, but once you recognise the shades that work for you, they can make such a difference to the way you dress. I’m a bit obsessed with Ghost London dresses right now, and keep adding them in every month or so. Sezane also do some absolutely wonderful pieces, and are really utilising colour right now, and utilising it well – it’s my favourite place to shop for basics too, and I always try to add classic tops and dresses from their collection when I can do.

Then last but not least – really not a wardrobe essential – but I’d had my eye on this Kayu Mrs bag for so long, so finally treat myself ready for our honeymoon. It’s quite a way off yet, but Net a Porter had a discount offer on, so I took full advantage – and it was lovely, as it made me feel so excited for our upcoming plans…
