Oh my goodness what a lovely weekend I’ve just had! I took Friday off work, and headed over to Manchester for a festive get together with my friend, and started off with the most amazing pancake breakfast at Alabamas All American Eatery – I highly recommend!
Then we went for a bit of a mooch around the Christmas markets, before we settled down for cocktails, chats, and some afternoon tea later on. I blogged about the afternoon tea in full, on my previous post, so I won’t delve into that too much, but we had the loveliest afternoon sipping cocktails and chatting over our food.
On Saturday, I spent the best day ever in York with my mum, sister and nephew. It was so festive, and my my nephew loved every second. We firstly went for a pancake breakfast (another one!) and then headed down to The Shambles – which my nephew thinks is really the street from Harry Potter. After we had confirmed that his mum could definitely see the street, and wasn’t in fact a muggle, we spent the loveliest couple of hours in and out of all the shops – the majority of which we spent taking in turns distracting my nephew, so we could pick up Christmas gifts for him that we had stumbled upon.
Once the fun there was done, we headed off for a lovely carvery, then it was back home for me, for popcorn on the sofa and finally time to watch The Irishman.
Sunday was also a fun packed day, which saw me heading over to Harrogate to meet my friend for our annual tradition of Christmas afternoon tea at Mama Doreens. I was going to blog about this, but they’ve recently moved premises, I’ve tried it twice now, and honestly… it’s not been the best – so I decided to leave it. That being said, we still had a nice day and a nice catch up, but unfortunately next year, I think we will be looking for a new traditional afternoon tea haunt!
