Last weekend I headed over to the Northern Quarter in Manchester to indulge in a chocolate feast. Cocoa Cabana (of which I was already a huge fan of), have recently opened their new store and it serves up chocolate afternoon tea, chocolate cocktails, the biggest hot chocolate menu ever… oh, and, you can enjoy all this in the company of doggos. It’s heaven, literally.
There’s also a huuuuge cake counter, too – which I did plan to indulge in to grab some treats to take home – however that never happened, as once I’d finished my afternoon tea, I was pretty much just ready for a massive nap, seriously stuffed!
So – afternoon tea. It cost us £17 per person, and for this we got the most beautifully presented platter of finger sandwiches, scones, SALTED CARAMEL SAUCE, clotted cream, macarons, chocolate brownies, layered chocolate mousse, and chocolate tarts. Oh, and endless hot chcoolates – which, may I add, I thought may be a bit naff, considering you can have as many as you want included in the price – but seriously, they were bloody amazing, and the flavour options and combinations were incredible.
The sandwiches were pleasant – really tasty and satisfying. I wouldn’t say they were anything stand out, but they are just finger sandwiches – there’s only so much you can really do with them? They were nice, and I had no complaints. But the dessert options, oh the dessert options… they were stunning – every single one. Scones with salted caramel sauce? Genius! I wasn’t sure if the whole concept would be too sickly, it is chocolate afternoon tea after all.. but honestly, it wasn’t, it was just really tasty, really satisfying, and really fun. It was also incredible value for money, I was really impressed by that.
Then, if all that wasn’t enough, Frank the gorgeous sausage dog strutted up to us making an appearance. He’s the cafe’s dog, and he’s frequently found wandering around being the goodest of good boys, and giving all the cuddles and affection. It couldn’t get any better for me, and I 100% would return. Cocoa Cabana, I love you!
