Bridal Shopping, Pumpkin Picking and Afternoon Tea

Happy October everyone! It’s that time of year again and I’ve been filling my own month with lots of activities to get me into the spirit of things.

Last weekend, I went for a wedding dress try on shop with my mum. I’m getting my own dress custom made, but we needed to get an idea of styles that would definitely suit me, and make sure I was on the right track with my ideas. I wasn’t sure what to expect from it, but it was such a lovely day – and is one of the nicest parts of planning a wedding. I’m going to pop up a post about some facts I took from the experience, so if you’re interested, keep a look out for that.

Once we had finished, we went for a bit of a mooch around Harrogate, and then to enjoy afternoon tea and hot chocolates. I’d so recommend afternoon tea for any brides to be who do spend the day trying on wedding dresses; it’s such a lovely way to round the day off – and really makes it into an occasion.

On Sunday, my boyfriend and I went pumpkin picking at our local farm. It was extremely cold, and extremely muddy – and a hot bath was urgently needed afterwards… but it was really good fun, and its so much more satisfying hunting around and seeking out the perfect one, rather than just picking one up from the supermarket.

I’ve actually never carved a pumpkin before, and I didn’t realise how much bloody hard work it was!!! I was therefore quite impressed with my attempts, and if you couldn’ already tell, I based it on one of my favourite films, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I also picked up a new White Company candle to try this month in Ginger – it’s not a scent I’ve seen before – and when I smelt it in the shop, it seemed like a nice alternative to Winter, probably one to burn the season before… so now. But when I got it home and got it burning, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I got more florals from it than ginger. Still pleasant, but not as Autumnal as I would have liked.

Another new try this month has been the Pasta Evangelists subscription box. I kept seeing the adverts all over my social media – and I’m ashamed to say – I was reeled in by the marketing ploy! Anyway, to be fair it was gorgeous – albeit quite expensive for what you get – so it will probably just be a special occasion thing for us. Although it would be really impressive for a first date.. as it’s restaurant quality, yet it takes about 10 minutes max to throw together. Bit of a tip there for anyone out to impress!

I also cooked up a huge Sunday dinner too at the weekend – it was a busy one! Although as usual, I cooked way too much food… and so the next day we all got to enjoy a sunday roast leftovers meal too. But hey, isn’t that what Sunday roasts are all about?
