Spoiler – it involved a hell of a lot of food. Again, my apologies for being a little quiet on here over the last two weeks… it’s because I’ve been busy with lots of birthday celebrations! I love birthdays, and always try and make a big effort to celebrate them.

Things kicked off with chocolate afternoon tea at Godiva, which I’ve already blogged about in my last lifestyle update, so won’t delve too much into. Basically, if you didn’t read it, it was afternoon tea at Godiva, with copious amounts of chocolate, and was amazing.

On my birthday weekend, my sister and I have this new tradition of going to one of our favourite food joints in a gorgeous little village that we found. I indulged in the biggest chicken caesar salad I’ve ever seen in my life… then enjoyed a dessert platter and an amazing malteaser hot chocolate.

Then we headed back to mine for a family BBQ and a sleepover, followed by even more food in the morning… because is it even your birthday if you don’t have cake for breakfast?! Luckily the weather pulled through and provided the most perfect BBQ temperatures too.

After breakfast, we got ready for a trip to the cinema with my nephew to see Toy Story 4. Toy Story 1 is one of my favourite Disney films ever, and number 4 didn’t disappoint. I have a new love for Bo Peep, and the new character Duke Caboom is absolutely hilarious.

Once all the kids fun was over, my boyfriend and I enjoyed an evening at my favourite restaurant Piccolino; and again, the weather was on form meaning we could sit out and eat on their terrace.

This year with regards to birthday presents, we had both decided to keep things quite low key; obviously we are getting married next year, and we have just bought a house, so it was the sensible thing to do. I got a beautiful Acne Studios card holder with money combined from my Mum and boyfriend; and then just some other lovely little bits such as some gorgeous Anthropologie crockery (favourite shop ever), a huge bag of my favourite chocolate orange hot chocolate from York Cocoa House, and a few gorgeous new plants for the garden – as I’m a bit obsessed with planting things at the moment (total Nana).

The following weekend I had a jaunt to York with my friend, and we enjoyed cocktails at the Ivy, afternoon tea at Hotel du Vin, and a little stroll and shop around the streets of York. It was wonderful, and gorgeous weather again too.
