What I’ve Been Up To This Month

So I know it’s been a little thin on the ground over here with new posts and updates this month… that’s because I’ve been working on a little blog makeover in the background, which is all now up running and live. If you get the chance to, have a little play around once you’ve read the post, and get a feel for the new layout – I’d love to know your thoughts!

Away from the internet, I’ve had a pretty busy, fun, food packed (always) month. Last weekend I headed over to the Trafford Centre to see my wonderful friend from uni, and we indulged in lots of shopping (watch out for a haul coming up soon), a Wagamama and some extremely decadent desserts including a chocolate strawberry waffle (heaven) and some pure chocolate shots. At the time, I felt ridiculously sick… now, well now, I’d give anything to have them in front of me again – I’m going to plan in another visit as soon as I finish writing this blog post!

We had my lovely nephew stay with us recently too, which is always fun. He requested waffles for breakfast… so obviously, I knew just the place to take him – my favourite breakfast joint ever of course! I ordered my usual pancake stack, and he enjoyed devouring Nutella straight from the pot, and drowning his waffle in all the syrup he could manage – responsible Auntie number 1 right here.

He actually stayed on that weekend where we had the freakishly warm end of March weather, so we spent the morning stocking up on lots of plants for our garden at the garden centre. My favourite plant ever is Star Jasmine, so we bought three big climbers to grow across the trellis on our fence, which I’m hoping will completely cover one side of the garden; then two more huge climbers for the opposite side. My plan come summer is to have a beautiful perfumed garden full of lots of lovely colour. I also picked up a few potted lavender plants to dot around the garden whilst we wait for the rest of the colour to bloom. Our local garden centre also has the most amazing restaurant too, so we indulged in Sunday dinner, followed by hot chocolate and cake whilst we were there. We also picked up some nice new gin and tonics to try too – obviously, for when my nephew had gone home.

I also had a catch up with a really good friend this month, which involved a long awaited trip to Yo Sushi – a place I always love going to, but it can often get forgotten about with all the new restaurants popping up – and that was followed by desserts and my favourite coffee from Carluccio’s.

We also had a lovely family trip out earlier in March to Brimham Rocks; again, we got lucky with some lovely weather, so spent the day having fun climbing all the rocks, enjoyed a picnic, then went for a wonder to one of the local villages where we indulged in ice creams and a trip to the distillery.

I know I sound a bit like a Nana, but I really am obsessed with garden centres, and to top off my little month of delicious food jaunts… we were back to our local garden centre again just recently to try out one of their breakfasts. It didn’t disappoint, and I feel really lucky to have it just on our doorstep. Plants, cake, hot chocolates, Sunday roasts and huge breakfasts all in one place… that really is like heaven to me!
