Pat McGrath Holiday 2018 Sublime Bronze Temptation Opulence Palette

PAT MCGRATH MTHRSHP SUBLIME BRONZE TEMPTATION

If you’re going to invest in one beauty product from this years Christmas collections, I implore you, make it this one. I’ve always been inspired by Pat McGrath and her work, so much so that I based an entire project on her when I was at uni studying makeup artistry; and also chose to write about her career in one of my dissertations. She’s now branched out into releasing her own cosmetics line, and with the Huda Beauty palette giving me the complete wow factor… it kind of made me realise that I really need to broaden my horizons with regards to checking out other brands, as clearly, there’s so many wonderful products out there that I haven’t been discovering, because I’ve been insistent on sticking to what I know and love.

This is a high end palette, it’s expensive, not overly so compared to other brands in that category, but it’s still a splurge. But my god, is it worth it. It’s also making me realise how over priced other brands can be, because the quality of these shadows are quite literally the best I’ve ever tried. I’ve swatched the shades with the camera flash on, and then in natural daylight for you to see the effects. However the pictures don’t even do them justice, if you can get to a shop that stocks these, please go and see them in person, they’re incredible. These swatches are literally from running over my skin once with my finger, I didn’t wet the powders, there’s no need to (so can you imagine how pigmented they are when wet!) and I didn’t put anything underneath to make them pop. They glide, g l i d e, onto the skin, and the colour pay off is just something else.

Obviously there’s six shades, two mattes for blending, three shimmers and a duo chrome (which you can really appreciate in the picture with the flash on). Pans are a really good size – I actually think they’re priced exceptionally well for the size and quality of them, and each colour compliments the other beautifully. They can be used to create a real statement eye, or played down to display a hint of glamour – either way, you’ll get questions and you’ll get compliments, lots of them.

I’m honestly really in awe of this palette, and I’m now having a look at other bits in her makeup line to see what I want to add next. Even just the packaging alone is breathtaking, it’s currently sat in the middle of my dressing table, and I just can’t stop glancing at it every time I’m nearby – that won’t ever be going into my makeup drawer, it’s like a piece of art before you even open it! This is investment beauty at its finest, and you’ll be hooked as soon as you open the box…
