Roasted Chestnuts, Wedding Dresses & Chocolate Fondue…

“What I did this weekend” type posts are always my favourite kind of blogs to read, they’re also my favourite to write… and after having such a lovely weekend, I just had to share.

We started off with a trip to Hull Fair on Friday evening, me, my boyfriend (fiancé, I know, but I still find it a little cringe to refer to him that way), my mum, sister and my nephew. We go every year, so it’s started becoming a bit of a tradition, and always have the best time.

We spent the evening gorging on Yorkshire pudding wraps, halloumi fries, sugar doughnuts, roasted chestnuts and sweets galore; had lots of bumper car fun, rode the ferris wheel, and spent lots of time laughing at my 6 year old nephew enjoying all the rides. If you do go, I’d really recommend using the park & ride – I think it’s really well organised, and we never have an issue with it.

Saturday morning was spent with my lovely friend and her fiancé, celebrating their recent engagement. We indulged in a chocolate afternoon tea, and talked all things bridal. I’m going to do a full post on the afternoon tea, so if you’re interested in details, keep your eye out for that one. I then had a quick nosey around the shops, and also popped into Hotel Chocolat to have a taster of their new chocolate liqueur… I’ll update you on the full verdict once I’ve had chance to enjoy it some more.

After recovering from my chocolate coma, I headed back home for an afternoon of stalking our new house, we are moving into it this month, and seem to spend the majority of our time at the moment going to “visit it” – does anyone else do this? Anyway, we took some measurements, and started properly planning what we needed to purchase for it. We exchanged contracts on Friday, so things are starting to get a bit real.

On the way there, I also popped into the bridal shop that I’ve driven past and gazed into nearly every day for the past two years… Anita Massarella. I was lucky enough to win a competition they had running, and so was invited in to collect my prize. Her boutique is so, so beautiful, and we spent about 30 minutes in there just chatting about our wedding plans – it was lovely. I still can’t believe I won the competition, and can’t stop opening up my beautiful prizes to gaze at. As well as a handmade garter and hair comb accessory, I also won a set of Cote Noire “real to touch” artificial flowers. They are so realistic, and even smell real! I can’t wait to have them on display on my dressing table as soon as we are moved into the new house.

By Sunday morning, I was pretty tired… and so I spent the day online window shopping and making lists of everything I needed wanted to order for the new house. And just for good measure, we also indulged in Sunday dinner too – it’s not a real Sunday without Yorkshire puddings!
