Buying a House, Lots of Gin and a New Handbag

So I appreciate things have been pretty quiet over here for the past few weeks… but not without reason – I’ve been buying a house! I say I, because obviously this is my blog, but I’ve been buying a house together with my boyfriend (I still find the word finance cringe), and whilst it’s been in the pipeline for a good few months now, last week we finally completed and moved in.

Now to say it’s been hectic is an understatement. I’m still studying for my audit qualification, and the house purchase and move has taken a significant amount of time away from that for me, time I didn’t really have, so the week we moved in I went into serious military mode, had a few late nights, and managed to get every single room in the house (not on my own, my boyfriend was a major part to play in this), moved in, completed, tidied and finished – no mean feat, I know – but it now means I can completely dedicate my time now to catching back up with exams.

Anyway, boring stuff aside, I love it. I really love it. It’s a three bedroom home, and we have our bedroom on a floor of its own – this is what attracted me to the house in the first place, and it’s been wonderful this week seeing the vision I had for that room come to life. I’m going to do a full dressing table and wardrobe tour in a couple of posts time, as I adore what I’ve created with the space, so if that’s something that interests you, keep your eyes peeled.

Now, speaking of wardrobes, naturally, when you move, you dig out all your old stuff to pack… well wow I had a lot of crap. I also had a lot of handbags I’d lost interest in – Gucci I’m looking at you. Yes, my love affair with Gucci is now over, I think Instagram has just completely ruined it for me – and I came to the decision that I just wanted rid of the lot. So, over a matter of weeks I sold it all, and that gave me extra money to firstly, buy some pretty new house bits – such as these beautiful embellishments I found by Azumi Sakata (see picture below) – but secondly replace with a new – wanted for years and years – handbag. If you read my blog last year, you’ll have seen that I purchased the Diorama Wallet on Chain, but found it way too small for what I wanted it for, so sadly returned. Well, after keeping my eye out for a long time, I finally found one on Vestiaire Collective in the exact powder pink shade I had been lusting over for so long, brand new in the box, but obviously for slightly less of the price than you’d pay directly from Dior. I think the lady had purchased / received it as a gift, then just never taken it out of the packaging to use, so decided to free up the space in her own wardrobe – much to my delight. As always, once I’ve had time to have a bit more of a play and a wear, I’ll do a full post on this – but I’ve finally got my hands on my dream bag, and I’m thrilled.

Anyhow, back to house chat. We’ve also changed locations a little – so still in the same city, but we now live in a village (although luckily they do have a Dominos pizza that delivers!), instead of the super busy area we lived in before. And whilst I did love it there too, this has been such a welcome change, especially for our dog. He’s always been a happy little thing, but he’s like a different dog here, as it’s so much quieter – which in turn means he is much calmer. We also had to get in the car to take him on his walks, where as here, we have a nature reserve just down the street, and endless walking opportunities just outside the front door. Both he, and I are really enjoying that, as it means I can get moving and get outside more myself, with minimal effort.

As you know, I’m a huge gin lover, and I’d ordered this stunning gin trolley a while ago… I was so excited to get in and put it up – and on Saturday evening we finally finished getting everything in place and were able to sit back with a takeaway and a couple of gins catching up on all the wonderful Autumn TV we had missed in the week – Apprentice, Bake Off, The Walking Dead etc… Speaking of that, if you haven’t seen Killing Eve yet, watch it. It’s my favourite thing I’ve watched in years, and I’m just as obsessed with the wardrobe, as I am the show.

Sunday I had a well deserved day off, watching Disney films… and cooking a roast – check out my gigantic Yorkshire Pudding. I take my roasts, especially my Yorkshires very seriously and was a little apprehensive of it going wrong in an oven I’m not used to, but as you can see it turned out well. Our village has a big Aldi, which is literally a two second drive from the new house, and I was dead impressed with their Sunday roast options; I’m completely fan girling over Aldi at the moment… sad, I know.

Another thing I’m a bit obsessed with right now, is the new Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser (basically a hot chocolate machine, that makes your hot chocolate exactly as it’s served in the store). I must have had about 14 hot chocolates this week already (seriously), and once I’ve worked my way through the selection packs, I’m going to re order another huge bag of my favourite orange hot choc from York Cocoa house, as that will work wonderfully in there. And on that note, I think it’s time for me to wrap this blog up… I’ve given myself another hot chocolate craving, so excuse me whilst I go put myself into a chocolate induced coma.
