Mini Espresso Martinis, A Japanese Feast and a Haul

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind since we got engaged… a whirlwind of loveliness (is that even a word?!), happiness, friends, and celebrations. I want to be able to remember it all forever… and so I thought sharing some of the excitement would make for a lovely little blog post.

The week we got back from our holiday, I had scheduled in some catch up time with my friend… however it coincided with us finding out that our house purchase had all gone through and was finalised – we had had an agonising wait over it, so it was such amazing news to hear, just to top off an already incredible month. It’s currently being built, so should be ready around October time, but it was the perfect excuse for celebrations.

We headed off to Bar Soba on Greek Street for a Japanese feast. I’ve been for the bottomless brunch at the older Bar Soba before, and whilst the food was amazing… the service wasn’t the best; however we had no problems at the new restaurant, our waitress was so lovely, and the food was incredible too.

After that we headed over to Gusto for some drinks… I’d been really keen to try the new mini espresso martini offerings, with that being my favourite cocktail. So we had a tray each of four minis – vanilla, gingerbread, classic, and hazelnut. It was such a lovely evening chatting about holidays, wedding plans, books, food and just general fun.

Because we found out about the house, I’ve also gone a little homeware crazy this month – I’m just so excited! Anthropologie has become my second home recently, I literally just can’t stop buying beautiful trinkets from there. However I’m going to do an autumnal homeware haul on my blog shortly, so I’ll go into detail about everything I bought in that.

I also picked up some gorgeous wedding stationery from one of my favourite illustrators, and ordered two custom drawings too. Then as I had to walk through John Lewis to get back to my car, I couldn’t resist picking up this lovely diary, and two bottles of my favourite gin liquer – one of which, as you can see, I clearly couldn’t wait to open!

Whilst I was away, I had also started craving home comfort food… chocolate, Sunday roast etc, and so placed an order a a chocolate shop I love, so that it would be ready when I got back. I treat myself to a huge bag of the orange hot choc, and also a lovely box of chocolates.

I also grabbed a copy of the new Deliciously Ella cookbook that has just been released. I have all the other books, and they’re always the most reached for within my cookbook collection, so I was really excited to add another one in there. I have my eye on the Polpo cookbook next, not only does the food look incredible, but I’m also thinking it will make our coffee table look pretty cool when we move into the new house too…
