My Favourite Home Scents

I’m obsessed with home scents. Scented candles, diffusers, room sprays, my home is full to the brim… but with so many on the market, it’s hard not to get lost in all the noise. I thought it would be nice to summarise some of my absolute favourites, the ones I each for time and time again…

Diptyque

Clearly, from the picture – it’s evident I adore Diptyque. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to introduce the brand, but I find them to be some of the strongest smelling candles money can buy. They go in any room, and look wonderful wherever you place them, thanks to their classic, instantly recognisable design. My two favourite scents have got to be Vanille Baies, and Gardenia. Vanille is super strong and projects its scent into every room in your home; spicy, aromatic and warming, it’s the perfect winter candle for me. Baies (berries) is probably the brands signature candle and I purchased it in the bigger size because I enjoy the scent that much – so fresh and clean. And Gardenia is stunningly unique, I’ve yet to find another candle like it, think fresh, earthy green tones with hints of jasmine (my favourite). Diptyque candles are clean burning and the beautiful pots can be used to hold trinkets in once the wax has burned up – just give them a clean with some warm soapy water.

Jo Malone

My love affair with Jo Malone continues… Peony & Blush Suede has to be my can’t live without candle, so pretty and feminine, yet complex, deep, masculine notes from the suede; it’s just divine and I’m not sure I’ll ever tire of it. But another candle scent from them that I love, is Sweet Almond & Macaroon – I think it’s a lesser known option, but it’s just as the name would suggest, a sweet yet grown up, sugary gourmand scent. It sometimes reminds me of marzipan, it sometimes reminds me of cherry bakewell (although I’m not sure why, as I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have cherry in it), but regardless, it’s lovely; and again, very different. I implore you to give it a whiff next time you’re in store, you may just fall in love.

The White Company

You really can’t beat The White Company for affordable, yet high end home fragrance options. Pomegranate and Seychelles are my must haves from here – I literally have the candles, diffusers and room sprays. Pomegranate scents my entire home, and I can’t see that changing right now; and I like to bring Seychelles into the mix in the warmer months. However, come November, all that gets replaced with Winter – The. Best. Scent. Ever. If you love Christmas, you’ll love Winter. I get so excited and happy when they bring it back every year, it’s my sign that Christmas is coming. Ah, I’m getting overly excited about it right now, just typing this up… in the middle of summer!

DW Home Candles

You can pick these little gems up in Homesense, and they come in the biggest array of scent options. My favourite time to purchase them is Autumn, because they have the most amazing pumpkin range – spiced pumpkin, blackcurrant pumpkin, white pumpkin, honey pumpkin – seriously, incredible. But they are available all year round and are super affordable. I think they’re about £6 each when you purchase from Homesense, and for that price, I honestly really rate them. I’ll be stocking up again as soon as the end of September nears.
