What I Did and Got for My 30th Birthday

It’s been super quiet on my blog for the past few weeks, and that’s because it’s been my birthday month! In typical female style, I don’t just take the day as my own, I class the entire month as my birthday; and as this one was my 30th, celebrations were even bigger.

As my birthday fell on a Saturday this year, I got to make the most of the entire weekend, and had also booked the Thursday, Friday, and following Monday off work to enjoy too. Thursday morning was spent at the spa with my sister, where we relaxed and enjoyed Bucks Fizz and foot and leg massages.

Once we had done at the spa, we went on a little adventure to a gorgeous town called Howden, where we had a wander around the shops and enjoyed hot chocolates, breads, cheeses and meats, and then the biggest dessert platter everΒ – much to the delight of my boyfriend who got the remainders brought home for him.

After that it was back over to Leeds to get ready for a meal out with my best friends. I chose Gusto as it’s one of my favourite places ever for pasta, it never disappoints. There I was surprised with the most amazing hamper containing lots of my favourite things; gin, a personalised gin glass, green olives, the most beautifully hand made cakes and pastries (there were so many of them too), hand made chocolates, and also sweets. I had such a lovely evening filled with friends, cocktails and carbs.

On the Friday it was time for more pasta! This time with family. We went to my favourite restaurant ever, Piccolino; and it was here that I got my birthday presents from my Mum, sister and boyfriend. First up my Mum surprised me with the most wonderful gift of a personalised number plate for my car, spelling my name. I had been eyeing these up on and off over the past few years, but never would I have been able to find one quite as good as that – top present buying marks there! I was pretty elated with that, so then as if it couldn’t get any better, my sister surprised me with a trip to Las Vegas, including a visit to the premier lounge at the airport – I couldn’t believe it. It had even been booked off work for me, and my thoughtful boyfriend had gotten me spending money for it too, so I literally didn’t have to worry about a thing. Such a memorable, amazing evening. Oh, and check out my beautiful cake!

The morning of my birthday was spent at my favourite breakfast place (I’ve blogged about it a few times before, so I won’t go on about it again).

My nephews birthday is a couple of days after mine, and so as it was technically his birthday weekend, I was happy to spend my own birthday at Go Ape for him. To be fair, it wouldn’t be my usual choice of birthday celebrations, but it turned out to be So. Much. Fun. Even though I was covered in bruises and absolutely shattered afterwards.

Then in the evening, it was off for another family meal and drinks in the garden afterwards, the weather was just perfect for it. Gin and brownies were consumed in copious amounts.

Now as if all of this couldn’t get any better… one of my best friends had been planning a surprise for a good few months, which fell on the following weekend. She is one of the most generous people I know, and we also have pretty much the exact same taste, so I knew it would be good… but never in the world would I have guessed that I was being whisked off down to London, first class on the train, staying at the Nobu Hotel, and seeing Liam Gallagher at Finsbury Park. The weekend was that good, I actually had holiday blues afterwards. The weather was perfect, the surprises were way better than anything I had imagined, and it gave me another memory for my 30th that I can keep forever.

The Nobu Hotel stay is a whole other blog post in itself, so I’ll leave a few pictures then talk about it in detail later on. Prior to the gig, we had a mooch around Shoreditch, then the best meal in the sun at Wahaca, with cocktails thrown in for good measure.

When the gig had finished, we had another little wander around Shoreditch and even enjoyed some more cocktails and chips!

To finish off the weekend nicely, we also indulged in the Nobu Hotels bottomless champagne brunch the next day – I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since, and again, I’ll go into full detail in another blog post about this one.

On top of all this amazingness, I also got gifted some of my favourite things including money to put towards a T Shirt I had been lusting over for a good few months, lots of gin (always a winner), my gorgeous Starchild Tarot deck, a Chlobo bracelet for my collection, Oreos (again, always a winner), Jo Malone treats, chocolate, a Chanel makeup palette, and lots of fun little Harry Potter gifts from my nephew. Oh, and a few months ago I also treat myself to a personalised drawing from my favourite artist ever. Even though I had it created a while back, it was a 30th birthday treat to myself. I had wanted one doing for years, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity.
