Breakfast at The Wild Plum Harrogate

I’ve recently discovered a bit of a hidden gem nestled just on the outskirts of Harrogate town centre; in fact I loved it that much, I’ve eaten breakfast there twice this week and I’m already planning when I can go again… Tucked away above The Snooty Frox, a pretty boutique full of treasures, trinkets and troves is The Wild Plum, a coffee shop serving up the most beautifully presented (and more importantly tasting) home cooked food. It’s a cosy little space with a relaxing, friendly atmosphere and some of the most exciting dishes I’ve yet to see in the area.

Iced coffees, rose lemonade, pancakes, waffles, cake and hot chocolates have all been on my agenda this week… phew! And all were equally as delightful and enticing as the next. On my first visit, I opted for the waffle – and I had all these high hopes of getting a waffle, then a hot chocolate, then a cake – I was down for it all! No, you’ll be absolutely stuffed after one portion, they’re huge, they’re generous and they will (as I found out) attract lots of attention on your Instagram page… Anyway, if you are like me, and your eyes are slightly bigger than your stomach; fear not, you can grab the cakes to take out, just don’t do what I did and take a slice home for your boyfriend, then decide you are going to eat the whole thing yourself two hours later anyway – it’s the thought that counts, eh?

The pancakes are highly recommended too, in fact I’m not actually quite sure which I would recommend more. Both are just as good, and both come with three super generous portions of yogurt, honey and most importantly, Nutella. Any place that gives me a pot of Nutella is a winner in my heart. Seriously though guys, the food does taste just as good as it looks; I wouldn’t recommend it to you otherwise. Both of my breakfasts came stacked with crushed nuts, honeycomb, fruits and meringues; and it’s pretty evident that lots of love, care and attention went into the creation of these dishes. I think I just found my new favourite haunt.

You can find The Wild Plum on the 1st floor of the Snooty Frox, 34-36 Hookstone Road, Harrogate North Yorkshire, United Kingdom, HG2 8BW
