Opening 2nd October, Neighbourhood is going to be the place to be in Leeds this Autumn. The newest venture to land on the prime location of Greek Street, this upscale venue has it all; it’s a slick, glitzy-glam restaurant and cocktail bar by day (actually, in the evenings too – but that didn’t quite work as well with the phrase I was trying to use…) and a fun, vibrant, fresh party haven come evening time.
Think New York esque decor, a menu that has it all; brunch, sushi (even sliders!) and the most creative cocktail creations I’ve seen in a while – oh, and it’s also an Instagrammers dream. Seriously girls, make sure your phones are fully charged, as there are endless selfie opportunities!
We went all out here to check out the dining options; literally, we ordered half the menu – but that’s the great thing about this place, small plates dominate the menu, meaning you get to try an array of different items. I’d really recommend ordering this way, it’s too special not to try a variation of different dishes. However… if you try one thing here, I implore you to order the straw fries because OH. MY GOD. I mean, for fries, I have a LOT to say about them; crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, extremely flavoursome, very generously portioned – they’re just the dream, literally, I’ve never tried fries like it. The lobster wontons were a real highlight too, oh and the cheese beignets – get the cheese beignets!
Drinks wise, their menu is very trendy, very fresh and rather artistic. You’d be hard pressed to find a more original cocktail menu in Leeds right now, something that personally, I feel is really welcome. They also taste pretty wonderful too – I often find that you can be served a cocktail that gives you the wow factor to look at… but then leaves you feeling a little disappointed on the taste front. Not with Neighbourhood. You can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into creating the menu, both looks and taste wise. I honestly predict this place being a real struggle to get into on a Friday & Saturday night over the next few months…
I can’t wait to return to Neighbourhood again, I want to do it all – brunch with the girls; eating all to myself sharing those amazing fries with my boyfriend; a chatty catchup over dinner on an evening with my best friend; and partying ’til my feet can take no more on a weekend.
