Pret-a-Portea at The Berkeley

Being an avid afternoon tea fan, this year for my birthday I decided to make it extra special occasion and visit The Berkeley’s Caramel Rooms for their fashion inspired Pret a Portea afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea is priced at £41.00 per person (or £51.00 to include a glass of champagne) and “includes cakes and fancies in the colours of the fashion season and in the style of the worlds finest designers.”

Upon arrival, we were guided through the stunning hotel lobby until we reached The Caramel Rooms. We were promptly seated at our table, upon which I was delighted to be greeted by a personalised placeholder. The host then proceeded to explain the section of loose leaf teas and herbal infusions, throwing in his own recommendations when we struggled to choose from the extensive menu. I opted for “Posh Pomelo & Melon” and my two friends selected a “Funky Fruits” blend each. These arrived swiftly and I must say, they were a real highlight of the experience; these infusions were unlike any other tea I have experienced and could also be simply topped up with hot water whenever they began to run low.

The savouries soon followed, along with the stunning display of cakes, fancies and biscuits. As soon as we had finished eating our selection of sandwiches, our waiter came over and offered complimentary top ups, to which we almost instantly took him up on. In retrospect, this may have been a mistake as this then left us unable to finish the mouth watering plates of desserts, which again were an experience in themselves. However, this was not a problem as our waiter saw that we were struggling and explained that anything we could not finish would be packed away for us to take home.

Our leftovers were presented to us in beautiful cardboard boxes, in the most vivid colours, matching the general theme of the tea itself. As it was my birthday, I was also presented with an amazing dessert plate; making my day even more special. We were also provided with complimentary juices to finish the meal.

I really would recommend The Berkeley’s Pret-a-Portea for that special occasion, everything about the experience was simply delightful, from the presentation, to the attentitive service we recieved throughout. For £41.00 you really do get your moneys worth here and I will most definetley be back in the near future for another visit.

Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long)
so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and
say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well
am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to
the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for newbie blog writers?
    I’d genuinely appreciate it.
